LEESBURG — The Lake County Department of Community Services, Public Transportation Division, is scheduling two public meetings for Monday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Leesburg Community Building, located at 109 E. Dixie Ave., to receive public comments about proposed route changes for LakeXpress.
The new changes include stops by Lake-Sumter Community College, Lake County Agricultural Center and through the downtowns of Leesburg and Fruitland Park. The public comments received at the public meetings will be forwarded to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners when it considers the proposed route changes. LakeXpress runs every hour from The Villages to Eustis with a circulator route in downtown Leesburg. A second circulate route is expected to begin in downtown Mount Dora next year. The bus service began on May 21 and is currently averaging about 300 passengers daily. LakeXpress operates Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
