TAVARES — All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Tax Collector, Sheriff’s Office, Property Appraiser and Supervisor of Elections will be closed Friday, July 3, to observe Independence Day.
All Lake County Library System libraries will be closed July 3. All libraries will reopen on Monday, July 6. The Lake County Historical Museum will also be closed July 3.
The Lake County Department of Environmental Utilities administrative offices will be closed on July 3. All other operation, including the Central Solid Waste Facility at 13130 County Landfill Road in Tavares, the Waste-to-Energy Facility in Okahumpka and all residential drop-off locations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, July 4, all of these facilities, including the residential drop-off centers, normally scheduled to be open on Saturday, will be closed.
Residents in unincorporated Lake County will not receive curbside collection services on July 4. For customers who normally receive service on Saturday, residential collection services will resume on Wednesday, July 8. Residents living within municipal limits should contact their municipality for any questions concerning trash and recycling collection services.
LakeXpress, Lake County’s public transportation service, and Lake County Connection, the County’s disadvantaged transportation service, will be closed on July 3.
LakeXpress operates Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Fares for LakeXpress are $1 for all trips. Half-fares are available for riders 60 years or older, students and individuals with disabilities (buses are equipped with lifts). Free fares are available for children under five years of age, who are accompanied by a fare-paying chaperone. A state-funded program, Lake County Connection, provides low-cost transportation throughout Lake County to individuals who qualify as “transportation disadvantaged” as defined by state statutes.
